About

One person, one problem, one small app.

Where it came from

I built Adios for myself. YouTube's ad load had got to the point where watching a short video meant sitting through most of a long one, and I wanted it to stop on my own Mac.

It went on the Mac App Store in June 2026 because other people wanted the same thing, and I've kept it working since. There's no team, no investor and no ad-tech company anywhere near it.

How it's funded

The $4.99 unlock. That's the only money Adios makes — no ads, no data to sell, no affiliate links, no upsells, and a free tier that isn't a countdown.

Charging once instead of yearly means that single payment has to cover maintenance indefinitely, which is a genuine constraint. I went with it anyway. Billing people every year for something this small felt worse than pricing it once and keeping it small.

What I'll keep doing

  • Fix it when YouTube changes the watch page. That's the actual job.
  • Keep it small — under 1 MB, no background service, no features nobody asked for.
  • Keep it private. No analytics will appear later; there's no server to add them to.
  • Answer email myself, usually the same day.

What it isn't

Adios has no connection to YouTube, Google or Apple. It's an independent third-party Safari extension. “YouTube” is a trademark of Google LLC; “Safari”, “Mac” and “macOS” are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Get in touch

adios.contact@pm.me — bugs, requests, purchase problems, or just to say it's working. For bugs, your macOS version and a link to a video where it fails saves us both a round trip.
